Start with the casting requirements
Geometry and release
Review wall sections, ribs, dépouille, undercuts and parting lines. Mark critical datums and any surfaces that will be machined after casting.
Surface and assembly
Define visible surfaces, finish requirements, machining allowances and mating dimensions. Agree any porosity or leak-test requirements before the trial plan is finalized.
