Substrate and overmold tooling

A useful brief shows what must be held in position, where the overmold is allowed to flow and how the finished part will be tested. Agree those requirements before selecting the mold layout and loading method.
Discuss Overmolding ToolingProvide the substrate material, dimensional range and supply condition. Mark locating surfaces, retention features and areas that must remain free of overmold material. Review how the substrate will be supported during molding.
Specify the overmold grade, dureté, color and service conditions. Review material compatibility and the proposed loading, molding and removal sequence. If the component is produced in two shots, include the first-shot tool and machine requirements.
Define the surfaces responsible for sealing, grip, appearance or protection. Specify bond or retention checks and any functional tests. Discuss acceptable flash, parting lines and gate marks before the tool concept is approved.
A material combination or soft-touch surface does not by itself establish bond strength, sealing performance or suitability for a regulated application. Confirm the tests and documentation for the project.
