Make the critical features measurable
Precision tooling discussions should begin with the dimensions, surfaces, and interfaces that determine whether the component works.
A small or complex part can have very different requirements across its features. Identify which characteristics are essential to function and which can be reviewed for manufacturability. The enquiry should connect the part specification with the proposed tooling approach, the intended production conditions, and a practical method of checking the result.
Discutez de Votre ProjetProvide a dimensioned drawing alongside the part model. Mark datum references, mating surfaces, and critical feature relationships. Explain the assembly or performance requirement behind each priority so that review effort is directed to the features that matter.
Highlight small features, thin sections, internal corners, or surfaces with special finish requirements. Requested tolerances and finishes need a feasibility review rather than an assumption based on the category name.
Specify how critical characteristics are to be measured and how the part is supported during measurement. Clarify sample quantities, reporting requirements, and any functional checks. Agree acceptance criteria before trials, including how drawing changes and unresolved deviations will be recorded.
Achievable accuracy, material suitability, inspection capability, and tooling scope must be confirmed for the individual component. Define tolerances, small-feature requirements and any application qualifications in the agreed specification.
