Medical-component tooling enquiries
Medical Device Molds
A medical-component tooling enquiry starts with a defined part and a clear project scope. Share the geometry, material and intended application so the tooling requirements, inspection needs and open questions can be reviewed together.
Define the requirements before selecting a process
The review should distinguish the mold, the molded component and the finished device. Requirements for each need to be identified and agreed for the individual project.
Part geometry and intended use
Provide the drawing, CAD data and assembly context. Identify critical features, fluid paths, sealing interfaces or other geometry relevant to the component’s function.
Material and handling requirements
Specify the required resin or silicone grade and any customer-defined cleanliness, handling or packaging requirements. Identify which requirements need supporting evidence.
Inspection and documentation
Define dimensions, surface criteria, sample quantities and the records needed for your review. Agree responsibility for any additional testing or qualification work.
Information to provide
- 2D drawing and 3D model, including revision and critical features
- Intended component use and assembly interfaces
- Specified material grade and relevant customer requirements
- Required cleanliness, handling and packaging conditions
- Sample, inspection and documentation expectations
- Any required certifications or qualification evidence for review
Agree a project-specific scope
Start with DFM analysis and document unresolved tooling questions before the mold design is finalized.
Confirm which tooling, trial, inspection and handover activities are included in the project. Requirements for the finished device and any specialist production conditions need separate confirmation.
Related tooling and engineering
Begin with the component specification
Share the part files and the evidence your project requires. GPTMOLD can discuss the tooling enquiry and identify points that need confirmation before a scope is agreed.
Medical-device approval, biocompatibility, sterilization, cleanroom production and certification requirements must be confirmed for the specific project; this page does not establish those capabilities or approvals.
